About this event

Queer Clinical Consultation 2024

The Queer Clinical Consultation (QCC) is a monthly online meeting for clinicians working with Gender Diverse and Queer People. It is an opportunity for both new and seasoned psychotherapists alike to:

  • Get fresh ideas from peers
  • Be reminded of the basics we lose sight of when we get into complicated cases
  • Learn "what we did not know that we did not know"
  • Stay up on new research or educational opportunities
  • And network with others who do this work in Indiana

Cost:

Because we value the wisdom from people with lived Queer experience, TCS is committed to paying our Queer consultant for their time. TCS also aims to keep this opportunity accessible to clinicians, regardless of their ability to pay, so Queer clients can reap the benefits of a community with educated and resourced therapists. In place of charging for access to this experience, TCS asks that participants follow a “Pay what you can'' model to contribute to the cost of contracting with our consultant. The recommended contribution is $50.

Moderator information:

Sam Hope (they/them), a seasoned Queer clinician, provides consultation at QCC. Sam Hope (they/them) is an accredited UK therapist, qualified in 2004, with a Masters specializing in trauma and oppression. Sam began their career working as a therapist in schools and universities and managed a therapy service for domestic violence survivors. They now work exclusively as a therapist and supervisor in private practice, and as a trainer and consultant. Their client group is mainly gender and sexual minorities, and they are also known for being affirming of kink/BDSM, consensual non-monogamy and sex work. Sam is heavily involved in LGBT+ community organizing and is the author of Person centered counselling for trans and gender diverse people: a practical guide. Sam is trans, non-binary, bi/queer, gray-asexual, neurodivergent, and has fibromyalgia. They live in Nottingham, UK.

Rebecca Waletich (she/her), LCSW, Director of TCS facilitates these meetings. Rebecca is the first, and one of the only, therapists in Indiana to be Certified by The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Rebecca is also a certified as a WPATH mentor for others who are seeking certification. Rebecca works closely with the Riley Gender Clinic, and has connections to local Gender service providers, and local community groups for Gender Diverse people.

Host information:

TCS is dedicated to providing quality affirming mental wellness care to gender and sexual minority groups. TCS strives to ensure access to this care and increase the quantity and quality of care providers for sexual and gender minorities in and outside of TCS. QCC is one of the ways TCS works to meet the goal of increasing quantity and quality of care.

In all of TCS’ work we hold it to be true that

  • Black Lives Matter,
  • Trans Lives are to be honored,
  • Neurodivergence is different, not less,
  • Fat bodies are valued regardless of health,
  • and all bodies are to be valued regardless of ability.

To support these values TCS uses its time, talents, and treasures to support organizations, and community leaders, that strive to lift up sexual, gender and racial minority communities. TCS actively seeks opportunities to listen to and lift up voices of gender, sexual and racial minority people in all of TCS’ work. It is also vital the people and organizations that TCS contracts with or supports share these values.
